Just outside San Francisco, off the coast of the Sanctuary (the base of operations for the Pacific Coast Paranormals), is an open portal leading to the world of the Fae and allowing (apparently) free passage between the two dimensions. It is located a mile off shore over open water, with warnings to keep clear to oceanic passers-by. The other end of the portal exists in the throne room of the Unseelie King, who has recently decreed that none shall traverse between the dimensions without his permission.
