Complications:
Greed and Megalomania - Emil's over developed sense of self-importance fuels his desire for wealth and power.
Vengence - Blackthorne has been on the losing side of a long standing enmity with Morning Star, or as Emil calls him, "Morning Wood".
Power Loss - If Emil is without his power armor, or the darkforce manipulator, he is powerless.
Arrest Warrant - Emil Blackthorne is wanted by local law enforcement agencies.
Known Background: Emil Blackthorne has been, for a long time, a mad-scientist-type villain that Morning Star has had to contend with from time-to-time. He was originally the engineer involved in the Empire City-to-Williamsburg Bridge scheme, bilking investors, and resulted in the incomplete "Bridge to Nowhere", which Morning Star put a stop to shortly after he relocated East.
Tired of always losing, and never even being enough of a threat that Morning Star would call in a CoJ ally, Emil started looking for an edge. Investigating the UnderDark Realm over the internet, picked up the trail of an AI that had recently accessed the same files. Tracking the A.I. back to it's home address, Blackthorne acccessed a computer in Nevada, and made copies of the plans for a power suit and the A.I., which he then tweaked for his own criminal use. He found his edge.
That edge nearly worked. But his foe's new allies had pull in the UnderDark. That cost him his battlesuit, and nearly his life. However, due to the machinations of a Mr. Q, Blackthorne engineered a new battlesuit, one that used aspects of his previous one, plus those of Hydronaut and Devilfish. He adapted weapons used by Locksmith's henchmen, the Worldfriends, and even Stuntman into his new suit. Next time, the outcome will be different.
