Complications:
Pines in Northern Arizona - Knoton's heart's desire is being with a woman he knew as a teen, who has stayed on the reservation and works as a dealer at a casino. This is why he moved back to Tuba City.
Stay Away From the Fire-Water Combination - For a time Nathan was an abuser of alcoholic beverages; he's better now.
Won't Go To the Doctor - Knoton dislikes the Tohono O'odham shaman, and fellow adventurer, Doctor Coyote.
Plays the Stereotype - Nathan allows himself to be seen as the drunk, pointless native stereotype he briefly became before he cleaned up his act.

Known Background: Knoton "Nathan" Deschene (duh-SHEE-nee), was a Navajo young man whose father died in the uranium mines of Arizona and became a bit disaffected and rootless, as his mother left when he was young. He was raised by his father's sister during his teen years, after his father's death. Despite his father dying in the mines, at 16 he dropped out of school and started working for Shooter Mining and Manufacturing, a now defunct minerals company whose remaining assets are now part of DIT Co. It was in those mines that exposure to an unknown chemical stored there, coupled with radioactivity, gave him the Fission powers, although he did not know it at the time. After assisting with transitioning the mines to a toxic waste storage site, he was transferred to one of Shooter's last working mines, a coal mine in West Virginia, right as coal ceased being king. During this time he encountered Darkforce, Bronze Amazon, Midnight, and Onyx, battling an incursion from the Underdark. He then met Doctor Coyote, who, being aware of Nathan's ability to actually split into multiple bodies before Nathan was, goaded him into splitting for the first time, and then showed him his heart's desire as a means of teaching him how to reincorporate as a single entity. This led to Knoton returning home to Arizona, giving up alcohol, and adopting the identity of Fission.
