Deillusioned Patriot - My country, right or... No, not wrong so much.
Not Feeling Like Myself - A casual follower of Eclipse will forget that, for a brief period of time, James was dead. While his essence was absorbed into Terrance Donner (who had killed him), he was later "transplanted" into a clone of himself, created by Dr. Clayton Vangor.
Shield Protector - Demolition has a history of doing dangerous and/or foolish things to protect Sentinel's shield. In his own way, it stems from his respect for his commanding officer and the knowledge that the shield is extemely rare.
Watch Lists - As a parahuman with former government ties, Demolition is watched by the Parahuman Security Bureau and a person of interest to Project: Titan.
Vulnerability - Demolition has trouble controlling his powers while in high magnetic fields. If he is attacked in or by a magnetic field, attacks get +2 to the Attack Check and +2 to the effect.
Relationships - Like many soldiers, James is very tight with his team.

Known Background: James Black (born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas) joined the Navy after high school to learn a trade and have some adventure; he was accepted to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Proving himself a proficient officer-in-training, he was quickly accepted into the SEAL program after graduation. It was there that he truly shined with an exceptional knack for underwater demolitions. Reassigned to Coronado, California, he served with SEAL Team 7. While there, he was called upon for special duty and was flown out to the far side of the Gulf of Mexico to do a special demolition job. What he didn't know at the time was that the military was working on Project: New Moon; a top secret project to create superhuman soldiers and weapons. The explosives James used were a prototype that was supposed to mimic the effects of an atomic bomb, but without the radiation aftereffects. He also didn't know that the people in charge of the experiment didn't intend to have a witness to the tests survive. They triggered the explosives before he had the chance to clear the area, the atoms of his body irradiated and mutated. When he was pulled from the water, he was immediately placed into quarantine, relocated to Project New Moon headquarters and kept captive with the rest of the project's victims until rescued by Eclipse. Once free, he agreed to join the Houston team.

Personality: Black is a very dedicated person who believes that doing what's right is the most important thing. He is a trained officer, both able to follow others and take command when either situation arises. When he initially joined Eclipse, he had trouble adapting to the "join forces" aspects of the group and occasionally tried to take the lead, but has since recognized the group's ability to function as a democracy and Sentinel's de facto leadership style. He is able to kick back and have fun, perhaps more so than other members of the team, but is also respectful of the position they are in and appreciates the trust that has been put in him. While he was once extremely patriotic, the things that the members of the government have done to him and the others have soured him somewhat. He still loves his country, but doesn't necessarily trust the people in the government that are in charge.

Powers/Tactics: Demolition is a trained hand-to-hand combatant, but the bulk of his powers come from being transformed into a manipulator of atoms and controling the radiation that comes from it. His own atomic makeup has been shifted enough so that he has enhanced strength, durability and stamina. He can do everything from crashing atoms together with explosive results, to separating his own molecules into a desolidified state, to transforming mass into new formations. The difficulty he sometimes runs into, though, is in not knowing what mass is supposed to be like. He has studied human anatomy so as to help people in the healing process, but he is not a molecular physicist and doesn't know the precise molecular compounds of everything. As such, his imagination is blunted by his lack of knowledge in many ways.

Appearance: James Black is a blond-haired, blue eyed man who stands 5'11" tall and is a fit 195 pounds of athletic muscle. His costume is based on his Navel military career: water blue camouflage gear with military boots, fingerless gloves and goggles.
