Known Background: Mary Atkins entered the U.S. Army right after high school. She had applied for Ranger training, despite being a woman. She had the aptitude, and the physical capability. Her superiors judged her to be a fitting candidate for Project New Moon. She was "accidentally" subjected to the same process that gave Carl (Thunder) Washington his powers. She found Eclipse later than several of the other New Mooners, but she was working with them when they were framed for crimes against the United States. It was then she encountered Amos Caldwell III.
