Migraine Complications:
Motivation: Responsibility - Brady feels compelled to use his powers to do good and help people, even if making them work sometimes gives him painful headaches.
So Dry He Misses It - Brady thinks of himself as a humorless actuary turned super hero. In truth, he has a bit of a sarcastic wit; he just doesn't realize that it's what he's doing.
Migraines - While Brady's intense headaches that came any time he used his powers were cured by Prophecy, they will still surface if he pushes his abilities too hard. As such, if he uses Power Attack or pushes his abilities beyond the norm in other ways, he will personally take a -1 Penalty (a "blue").
Good Grandson: Brady's grandmother's health has improved greatly in the dry desert air. However, Brady is still feel responsible for her and her increased gambling habits.
Responsibility - As a federal officer, he is sworn to uphold the law.

Known Background: Like many women of her generation, Rose Elmwood worked at a large industrial plant. The young men of the United States were fighting for the world's freedom overseas, and the young women of the nation were stepping forward to keep the home front operating. Sadly, in her early twenties, Rose was widowed and pregnant. Shortly after she conceived, her young husband had gone overseas and been killed in Europe. He had not left her much, so Rose found herself working in a large munitions plant, Maxwell Industries. Rose knew that Maxwell Industries was very important to the war effort, but never really understood the work of the plant. Rose never minded much, as the job paid well and, most importantly, the company was taking care of all of her medical needs during her pregnancy. For that matter, Rose never completely understood all the blood work, injections, and vitamins, but she was healthy and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy that she named Augustus.

As a single, widowed mother, Rose left the plant after the war. She continued to work a variety of blue- and pink-collar jobs while raising her son, Gus, in the midwestern city of St. Louis. As the years passed, Gus grew up to be a bright, healthy young man. After high school, Gus met the woman of his dreams, Hope. After a brief romance, Gus and Hope were married. Soon, they were dreaming of their future with their newborn son, Brady. No fairy tale dreams go unpunished, though. Gus and Hope were tragically killed in the fallout of a battle of supers, and as an infant, Brady became an orphan.

With no time to grieve, Rose rolled up her sleeves and set to raising another boy. Remaining in St. Louis, Rose quickly discovered how brilliant and gifted her young grandson was. Unbelievably, Maxwell Industries - now known as Poly-Psi Neurological Institute (a leader in neurological warfare research) - was still providing Rose and her grandson with medical care. Very soon, the company physicians became aware of young Brady's gifts and subjected the boy to numerous tests and exams to discern the nature and extent of his abilities. Brady demonstrated photographic memory, extraordinary knowledge, and an inane ability for mathematical calculation. As the boy approached adolescence, Rose grew concerned about the amount of medical attention directed toward Brady. So Rose withdrew from the PPNI health care system and attempted to provide for Brady completely using her own resources.

Under Rose's guidance, Brady Elmwood grew into a brilliant, healthy adolescent. Hoping to instill some of the same discipline and work ethic of her own generation, Rose enrolled Brady in a boxing program at a local boy's club. Under the club's tutelage and role modeling, the youth did learn the values of self-worth, confidence, discipline, and responsibility. In addition, he developed into a very adept boxer.

Besides learning to box, far more dramatic changes were being experienced by Brady during this time. As he progressed through puberty, the young man's already brilliant mind became even more extraordinary. First came a general awareness of the mental presence of other individuals. Later came an awareness of the conscious and subconscious thoughts of those minds. Finally, Brady developed abilities allowing him to 'lock-on' and interact either passively or aggressively with other minds. He could communicate with what he nicknamed MindSpeak or more commonly known as telepathy. He could also mildly blur the vision of others.

Brady found the abilities to be intriguing and also a bit frightening. So the young man did not speak of these powers and attempted to ignore them as much as possible during his daily pursuits. There was actually little temptation.

Personality: Honorable and heroic; warm and compassionate but not much sense of humor, never gets the punch line. Basically, has gifts he wants to use for the greater good. Also, early adventures have involved friends/acquaintance so he has felt a need to protect those he cares for.

Powers/Tactics: Variety of mental abilities including mindscan, telepathy, and combo mental flash and ego attack. Able to blur senses of opponents. Proficient boxer. Tactics remain to be developed.

Quote: Standing still but tensed for movement, he addresses the scantily-clad group. "Okay, so you know who I am. If you need an actuary, you can reach me at the office. We're in the yellow pages."

Migraine was created, designed and played by Kyle Kofoid. He was also played briefly by Ken Hallaron. Primary picture was drawn by Chelsea Mann. He is now an NPC.
