Known Background: John Blake discovered he was the victim of identity theft. Someone in New Orleans had gotten a driver's lisence and had obtained credit cards using John Blake's identity, but he left Blake's actual finances: his bank accounts, 401K, etc. alone. Further investigation led Blake to the Force d'Orleans Mansion in the Big Easy. There he met Johnathan Blake, who was also the costumed adventurer known as Messenger. He had arrived in New Orleans more than a year earlier with no memory, just his costume, powers, and codename. As his memory returned he had realised he was from a parallel Earth. As he regained more memory he recalled his true identity and he began to establish that identity on our world. It hadn't occurred to him that he might have a counterpart native to this world.
Messenger's teammate Diamant had connections with the larger parahuman community, and made some calls. The English hero Doctor Tesseract, formerly of the Legion of Champions, came, and after some investigation, acertained which Earth Messenger was from. They arranged for Messenger to get home. Before leaving, Messenger decided that this Earth he's been on for the past several months still needed a Messenger. He gave his pendant with the meteorite shard to the John Blake native of our world, and this John Blake became the new Messenger. | |
After several months experimenting with being a hero, Messenger went on a mission with the Champions of Justice that took him to Mysteria. Having lost his job, he didn't have much to return for, but found the land and one of its inhabitants in particular (Silver Sorceress) infatuating. This sparked his interest in staying and becoming a member of the champions of his new home. Personality: Messenger in new enough to the world of parahuman crimefighting that his personality is not yet known. What is known is that he lacks the arrogance his predacessor had had while his memory was gone (the only thing he knew for certain was that he was a powerful hero, and he focussed on that).Powers/Tactics: The pendant Messenger wears under his costume draws on the mysterious energies of a meteorite that has been in the other Blake's family for years. This energy boosts his willpower and strengthens his body. It also allows him to fly at great speeds and to perform various telepathic and telekinetic feats. Still inexperienced, this Messenger is still learning the best ways to utelise these abilities. Appearance: Messenger is 6’4", with dark hair and an athletic build. When he took posesseion of the pendant its glow changed from green to blue. As such, he made a similar colour adjustment to his uniform. The rest of his uniform is similar to the other Messenger's but with the red and white reversed. |
Messenger II was created and designed by Jim Caswell, Ken Hallaron and Eric Grzywa; based on concepts created by Luke Wagner. He was played by Eric Grzywa, but is now an NPC.
