The Mason family home served as the base of operations for the first Hornet Man and his wards for years. When he died, however, Bernard and Elaine relocated to Philidelphia, mothballing the manor for the forseeable future.
When Bernard was cured of being The Hornet, he returned to his childhood home and recruited those that were outsiders like himself for so long, creating the Frisco Freax and giving them full access to the manor and Hornet Cave for their use. He continued to do so when he and his wife Evette decided to take their newborn son back to Philidelphia. With the team name change to the Pacific Coast Paranormals, they also re-christened the base "The Sanctuary," primarily due to the large number of strange creatures they had managed to adopt over time.
That tradition continued when the team was absorbed into B.A.D.A.S.S., with their members who needed a home moving in.
