Located on the Indiana side of where the Wabash River runs into the Ohio River, Fort Benard is one of the so-called Tri-Cities, along with Candleton and Kennedy. This port city, nicknamed "the Gary of southern Indiana", has had similar unemployment, educational, and infrastructure problems as both its Illinois 'sister,' and to the city refrenced in the nickname.
