When extra-dimensional beings chose to have a contest of champions, seven (at the time) unknown heroes were chosen to fight for the side of light. Once the beings lost interest in them, though, the seven realized that they didn't have enough in common to come together as a team and went their own ways. Eventually, Balatar would contact each of them to join him in B.A.D.A.S.S.
