With the advent of Euroforce (in the European Union), and the Rising Suns (in Japan), the Australian government decided there was a need for an Australian super-hero team. Headed up by Cyber-Knight, Australia's premiere hero, a team of parahumans and crimefighters have been assembled to defend the world 'down under.' They have declined to become a subsection of the United Nations Defence Initiative: the Protectors of Australia and New Zealand (UNDI: PANZ). The team is named after the Latin term for the Southern Cross constellation; the members are referred to as 'Crusaders'.
