FEDERAL SECURITY SERVICE OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION (FSB)

Adapted by Jim Caswell

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) is the principal security agency of the Russian Federation and the main successor agency to the USSR's Committee of State Security (KGB). Its main responsibilities are within the country and include counter-intelligence, internal and border security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance as well as investigating some other types of grave crimes. It is headquartered in Lubyanka Square, Moscow's centre, in the main building of the former KGB. Like the KGB before it, the FSB has a parahuman division, specifically tasked with dealing with parahuman threats.

Shortly after its formation, the FSB faced its greatest threat when an alien armada attacked Russia. After his squad's first encounter with the aliens, Stalin (with the aide of Radion), was responsible for getting to America and recruiting help from the DC Defenders, who got him to the Champions of Justice. His squad continued the battle. Between the CoJ and the FSB parahumans holding the armada at bay, and Joseph Chillin leading the peace talks, Russia was saved (and also led to Chillin's appointment to President of the United States due to the Viper incident).
