THE HY-BRASIL BRIDGE DIMENSION

Created by Ken Hallaron and Tim Phillips

The Hy-Brasil Bridge Dimension is apparently a naturally occurring buffer dimension that exists dimensionally between Earth and Mysteria. It contains about fifty square miles, most of which is ocean-like. There is one island, covering less than 9 square miles. The interface between this bridge dimension and Earth is a circular aperture, that's less than two meters across. A similar aperture exists between this realm and Mysteria. These apertures, while static in the bridge realm are mobile on both Earth and Mysteria. They shift a few inches a day, and their pitch can rotate. The vertical axis appears stable. Today, the aperture exists several meters above the surface of the Atlantic Ocean, high enough that few ships would encounter it, and low enough that most planes would miss it as well.

Centuries ago, the aperture was closer to surface of the ocean and faced west away from the British Isles. This allowed for people in Ireland to occasionally see the island through the aperture, giving rise to the legend off Hy-Brasil. It is also how Gaelic explorers got from Ireland, through this realm, to the land mass in Mysteria they believed to be Avalon. The Champions of Justice rediscovered this small dimension, while tracking the Four Horsemen. These centaur villains were using the island of Hy-Brasil for a base. The Champions decided to leave both magical and technological markers to tag the openings on both Earth and Mysteria, as well as warning buoys to further ensure ships and planes keep away from the hazard.

The Champions decided to leave both magical and technological markers to tag the openings on both Earth and Mysteria, as well as warning buoys to further ensure ships and planes keep away from the hazard. The bridge was disconnected from Earth, though, when the planet was temporarily moved to another dimension. While the other end of the bridge still exists, it was closed off so as to not expose both Hy-Brasil and Mysteria to the vacuum of space.

Indicators are that using Hy-Brasil as a bridge between Mysteria and Earth will actually increase the temporal distortion between the two realms, not alleviate it.
