Addiction - Thralls develop a need for the blood given them by a vampire and are willing to do anything for it.
Coward - Sterling is afraid of dying, but also fears the cost of immortality so he struggles to find a way to stack the deck in his favor.
Fairweather Friend - Smythe looks out for Smythe and has no loyalty to anyone but himself (and Solidago). As such, if he thinks turning on his allies will get him further along, he's OK with that.
Loyalty - Thanks to Solidago forcing him to become his thrall, Sterling is devoted to him, much to his own chagrin.
