Complications:
Distinctive Feature - The Serpentine Vipers all have distinctive markings on their backs that are identical. They believe that this is a side effect of the chemical compound used to transform them. They neglected to read the fine print in their concent forms that covered what this was.
Illusory Superiority - While Dr. Carlson is a brilliant geneticist, he was unable to produce the desired effect of transforming Viper's volunteers into serpent supersoldiers until he was taken into The Emperor Ophidian's confedence and told about the mark of Treif. As such, he knows he's a fraud, but is more than happy to take credit for the "discovery" of how to make the Serpentine Vipers.
