The Weathernauts were created by Mister Marvel to help him keep Eclipse destracted while he prepared for his Carswell Air Force Base Gambit. Then their job was going to be to survive the nuclear attack and work wipe out what what was left of the earth's human population. Once he was stopped, though, they realized that following his plan blindly was not a sustainable model. So now they have dedicated themselves to being eco-terrorists, but without the "everyone must die" idealism. Instead, they'll be happy if only several thousand get killed off at a time.
