INDUSTRIAL CITY, IOWA

Created by James Taylor and Ken Hallaron

Industrial City, Iowa is a city in eastern Iowa along the coast of the Mississippi River. When it was founded in the early 19th Century, it was called Dusty Trails, and then Dusty Trail City, as it was at a convergence of many wagon paths. For a time, after several railroads were built along those same routes, it was nicknamed "Dusty Rail City" or "Rusty Rail City". In the early 20th Century, when many industrial concerns were moving into the region, a citywide referendum was passed and the city was officially renamed "Industrial City."
