Background - Rikka was an advanced student at the Royal Magic Academy of Norlandia when she started dabbling in shadow-magic. Eventually, she got skilled enough to travel to the shadow-magic dimension and did so to more closely study the shadow-magic, which was a mistake. There, she had the misfortune of meeting the Lord of the Shadows, and in order to escape him and his minions, she used her magical awareness and intuition to sense a dimension she could escape to that had a more tenuous connection to the shadow-magic dimension to prevent her pursuers from following her (by studying her shadow-magic portal's reaction to opening to it). This dimension turned out to be Earth-D, and while indeed the Lord of the Shadows had no desire to travel to Earth-D, she discovered that once there, she found that it's eversion to shadow-magic made creating shadow-magic portals impossible, trapping her there, and made controlling her shadow-magic much more difficult.
